The Thoughtful Gift Shop had been closed for several years when a former customer got in touch and asked me to make one more print.

She had previously given her parents one of my Kookaburra Family prints. This time, she wanted me to add a tiny chick so she could use it to tell them she was expecting a baby.

So I made it, and rather brilliantly, she filmed the moment her parents opened it.

I mean…how brilliant is that reaction?!!

It gave me such a massive rush and reminded me exactly why I loved making these prints in the first place.

They aren’t simply pictures. They help people tell their stories, celebrate the people they love and create moments like this one.

Watching that video made me realise The Thoughtful Gift Shop was simply too good to give up.

So, after four years away, I said goodbye to my safe but very boring 9-5 and came back to do what I should have been doing all along.
