The Thoughtful Gift Shop started in 2018 as a very small business based in Mount Kuring-Gai, NSW. I wanted to create a place where people could buy one-of-a-kind, handmade gifts featuring our incredible Aussie nature and wildlife.

It didn’t stay small for very long and quickly grew into a team of four. After a few very busy years, I decided to close the business and take a break to try something new.

Now The Thoughtful Gift Shop is open again and it’s back to me (Hannah) as a team of one. I’m starting small with our best-loved personalised prints and slowly rebuilding the lovely business I left behind.

The idea for my first range of prints came about because somebody very close to me lost a child. Any family photograph taken afterwards could never show their whole family, so I used birds and animals to create a family portrait in which every member of the family could be represented. That idea has stayed at the heart of The Thoughtful Gift Shop ever since.

Our Remembrance prints can feature loved ones who have passed away, and we have found that they can be a comfort to people who have lost family members or experienced miscarriage.

Many of our prints are also a way to celebrate families in all their shapes and sizes and have been made with single parents, same-sex couples and blended families in mind.

This almost doesn’t feel like work to me! From creating the original paintings to personalising your prints and writing your gift messages, every part of it is about making lovely moments (and I think we all need as many of those as we can get!)
